Embracing Neurodivergence in Entrepreneurship

A Call to Founders and Allies

In the dynamic landscape of entrepreneurship, a silent revolution is unfolding. Hi, I'm Boris. Founder of SOFT and Neurospicy Founders. I spent seven years in exec roles helping take a company public at the age of 34, and I was diagnosed with ADHD at 37. That gave me language and clarity I didn't have before.

The Overlooked Narrative

When I opened up to fellow founders, I was startled by a recurring theme: many had experienced similar journeys. Whether it was a late diagnosis or a forgotten one from childhood, neurodivergence is more common among entrepreneurs than we openly acknowledge. Yet, these conversations about our neurodivergent experiences are often left unspoken. However, the necessity for support and understanding is evident. Studies reveal that neurodivergent minds frequently gravitate toward entrepreneurship. A staggering one in three entrepreneurs has ADHD, with higher rates of autism, dyslexia, and other neurodivergencies found among founders. Their unique perspectives allow them to see the world differently, fostering the innovation necessary to build successful businesses.

Strenghts of Neurodivergent Entrepreneurs

Creativity, resilience, intense focus, pattern recognition, empathy—these are the strengths of neurodivergent individuals. They drive innovation and can lead to the creation of remarkable companies. Indeed, some of these companies will scale to significant heights, delivering value to both investors and customers. Yet as responsibilities grow, founders may find themselves misaligned with the roles they once thrived in. Without the appropriate support networks, this misalignment can lead to personal and organizational breakdowns.

The Weight of Responsibility

Neurodivergent founders often bear not only their own challenges but also assume the responsibilities of their teams, clients, and families. Their ability to thrive extends beyond a personal endeavor; it becomes a multiplying force that impacts others.

A Community for Change

Reflecting on my own experience, I find myself wishing that a community like this had existed when I needed it. Thankfully, it does now, and I’m extending an open invitation for you to join. Neurospicy Founders welcomes not only neurodivergent founders but also their allies—those who are eager to understand and support them. Remember, you're not alone. Together, we can flourish and I cannot wait to hear your story.

See you soon.
